The AMC SeriesThe AMC Competition Series is the main set of competitions used to select the United States mathematics team for the International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO). These contests are run by the Mathematics Association of America (MAA). The AMC Series is split into the AMC 8, AMC 10, AMC 12, AIME, and the USA(J)MO. Some colleges care about scores in these competitions as well. This contest series is one of the most important ones in the United States.

AMC 10
What Is It?
The AMC 10 is the first test in the AMC Competition Series that has an end goal of going to IMO. This test can be taken by anyone who is in 10th grade or lower. The test is 75 minutes long, 25 questions, and is multiple choice. Each question correct counts for 6 points, each question left unanswered counts for 1.5 points, and each incorrect questions counts for 0 points. Students who either have a score of at least 120, or who are in the top 2.5%, move on to the American Invitational Mathematics Examination (AIME). |
Our Curriculum
Our curriculum for this test is broken up according to the main subject areas: algebra, combinatorics, geometry, and number theory. The concepts taught in this curriculum are chosen in order to best match the questions on the actual AMC 10 in order to show students what they need to know. The curriculum itself will cover concepts that help with the AMC 10 as well. There will be practice problems at the end of each concept and at the end of each main subject area. However, several of the concepts and problems may be slightly harder than most AMC 10 problems; they are designed to challenge students in order to allow them to understand concepts thoroughly and to teach important problem solving skills. |
